Bonus Episode: A Simple Carpenter

The Master of Horror Is In

Next month’s theme has given me pause to go back and ruminate on my relationship with the man in question. On one hand, he is responsible for creating content that I have really loved over the years and has become shorthand for weeding out those who don’t appreciate fantastic exercises in horror, action or fantasy. On the other hand, he has turned into something of a sorehead- looking at the work he has done in the past as “yeah…it was work, what of it?” and receiving fans coldly- that is if he deigns to receive them at all. In some ways, John Carpenter has a justified anger towards Hollywood, which seemed to be slowly closing doors on him as he attempted to practice his craft over the last 30 years. Join us for a brief background on the master of horror, who’s films we are covering all month long.
