Ep. 47 Raw Force (1982)

Far from Burbank, but holding it together

This week we tackle a film that can bring unabashed joy from it’s breathtaking absurdity. A mélange of genre, Writer/Director Edward Murphy brings Zombie violence, Kung Fu action, and sweaty titillation from “Women In Cages.” Members of the Burbank Karate club find themselves stranded on “Warrior Island” after their pleasure cruise through the South China sea goes awry, forcing them to confront malevolent monks, an evil German jade trader, and wrathful revenants. Throw in a dash of Cameron Mitchell, a dusting of light cannibalism and some awkward attempts at humor, and you got yourself a recipe for a film that will be sure to have something for everyone. Join Chris this week as he breaks down the terribly unique “Raw Force.”
