Ep. 45 Petey Wheatstraw (1979)

Made possible by this awesome cane

This week we cover the third film of creator/comedian Rudy Ray Moore, a supernatural Blaxploitation crime comedy that needs to be seen to be believed. Petey Wheatstraw is a kung fu practicing stand up comic who refuses to give in to demands from his competition…and is murdered for it…but instead of going into the great beyond, he strikes a deal to marry Satan’s daughter and be granted powers through the use of the devil’s magic pimp cane. It’s fun, it’s loud, and it gets weird in a hurry, as Moore peppers in his stand-up routines, his lackadaisical martial arts, and some of the craziest outfits the 70’s could provide. Tune in as Chris breaks down the wild romp that is 1979’s “Petey Wheatstraw.”
