Ah the 1970’s- a golden time when modern technology was being put to use to try and find cryptids, rather than focusing on ameliorating the suffering of mankind, like one would think. Between modern diving equipment, submersibles, and sonar the Loch Ness Monster was all the rage, especially with theories of it being a surviving Plesiosaur running wild. So you got the Japanese film studio Toei trying to cash in on a new craze, but people still want their crazy Kaiju action- so it’s simple: you pen a story about 2 separate dinosaurs that reawaken in modern times, eat a few folks and then will undoubtably fight each other.
